Good MMI Prime unit

I ordered the CarPlay MMI Prime Retrofit for my F30. The ordering process on their website was straightforward. Shipping took about a week, which was as expected. I appreciated that they included installation guides on their site, which were pretty helpful. The unit itself feels well-made. Installation took me a few hours, but it was manageable with the video guide. Apple CarPlay integrates nicely with my iDrive controller and steering wheel buttons. Sound quality is good, and it switches between iDrive and CarPlay without issues. So far, no glitches or connectivity problems.

Consistent quality for upgrades

BimmerTech tends to be more expensive, but both offer pretty similar MMI units. I think the main difference is support and maybe some minor UI things, but functionality is usually on par. Read some reviews for your specific car model, that helps.

Nah, most of these retrofits are pretty plug and play and don't mess with the car's main systems. Dealers usually only care if the part directly causes a problem, which isn't the case here.

I installed their CarPlay kit in my F30 a year ago. Had a minor engine issue later (unrelated) and the dealer didn't even bat an eye at the MMI. They're usually fine with it unless it's like, a major engine mod.
